Weekly Meal Plan
Psst… For family life, I’m naturally not making the likes of fresh pasta and sushi for every family meal. Life is busy and my two kids seem to be going through a fussy stage. Sometimes the hardest thing is deciding what to make… so I’ve decided to narrow things down a bit to help. No doubt I will veer off this LOTS, but sometimes it’s the thinking of what to cook that can be the hard thing and hopefully this plan will help me and maybe you.
Here is my suggested guide to help narrow down the choice of what to cook …maybe you will find it useful? Let me know.
MONDAY - Pasta / Risotto with a salad - try veggie versions.
TUESDAY - traybake - love them. Eg chicken, chorizo, peppers, and potatoes in a tray and bake, OR Salmon with pesto, potatoes and courgettes.
WEDNESDAY - It’s a busy day so it is a no cook day and the kids love my Picky Platter. I give them raw veg sticks, fruit, olives, hummus, leftovers, bread, cheese, ham, maybe an omelette or dippy egg.
THURSDAY - Breaded day, maybe chicken or fish fingers - the kids go for these and it’s always helpful to batch them for the freezer. Serve with potato wedges (sweet or normal) and veggies. Option of going breadcrumb free for the adults. You can jazz it up by serving different sauces to go with it - eg yoghurt tartare, salsa verde, or katsu curry.
FRIDAY - Fun Fridays - we enjoy making pizzas on Fridays. Everyone gets involved. Or go with convenience, maybe get a takeout Fish and Chips.
WEEKENDS
- Soups - they are great for winter and are full of nutrition.
- Slow cook delights! Why not try Moroccan stew or slow cooked pork ribs and chickpeas.
- Fun sharing/interactive meals, like tapas, or San Choy Bow, or Tacos, roast dinner with the trimmings, or savoury pancakes with different fillings such as spinach and cream cheese, ham, roast peppers and of course lemon and sugar for the sweet.
- Sausages - my hubby loves them and will happily cook these.
-Try something new from a recipe book or magazine.
That’s it, I hope it helps you.
