RECIPE
Witches Finger and Fruity Eyeballs
This is a fun recipe that I taught as an online class to families over Halloween time during lockdown. It was a lot of fun! I hope you enjoy it!
Witches Fingers and Eyeballs!
EQUIPMENT -
2 x baking trays
Baking paper
Mixing bowl
Sieve
Wooden spoon
Fork
oven
INGREDIENTS
225g butter - softened, room temperature
100g icing sugar
230g wholemeal flour (or spelt flour)
125g plain flour
1 pinch of salt
1 x egg lightly beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla essence / almond essence/ cinnamon (optional)
30 grams almonds
A red jam (eg raspberry or strawberry)
1 x tablespoon cocoa
EYEBALLS
Tin of lychees / rambutan
15 blueberries
red jam (optional)
Witches Fingers
In a bowl using a wooden spoon beat together the butter and sugar.
Add the egg and vanilla essence and beat some more.
Sieve together the flours and salt and beat it in to the butter, sugar and egg mixture.
Divide in to pieces and roll in little sausages, cut to a finger size, and use the tip of a spoon to make the knuckle creases. Add an almond to make a nail., (you can put some red jam around it too ;-)
Place on to greaseproof paper and bake at 160 for 10-12 minutes.
Allow to cool, then use the jam to add some blood, and lightly dust with cocoa to give it the extra haggard look ;-)
EYE BALLS
Place blueberries in to the eyes of the lychees, maybe add some jam or raspberries to make them look a bit blood shot. ! Can put them back in the lychee juice or berry cordial?
Whahahaha! Let me know how it goes! I would love to see some pics!
